Fabric Wall Hanging

Fabric Wall Hanging

Looking at a blank wall thinking it needs a little something? Look no further than this lovely DIY and showcase a beautiful piece of fabric by creating this super simple wall hanging.

What you will need:

  • Fabric
  • Iron
  • Sewing Machine
  • Dowel
  • Drill
  • Yarn of your choice

Step 1

Cut your fabric (if required) to your desired size, I cut mine to 57x94cm

Hem the sides and bottom of your fabric by pressing the fabric 1cm twice and sewing.

Step 2

Create the pocket at the top of your fabric for your dowel to go through.
Fold over and press 1cm at the top of your fabric then fold and press again by 4cm and sew.

Step 3

Cut your dowel (if required) so that it is 6cm longer than the width of your now hemmed fabric – I cut my dowel to 65cm.

Drill a hole 3cm in at each end of the dowel using a drill bit that is just big enough for your yarn to thread through.

Step 4

Thread your dowel through the pocket at the top of your fabric.

Then thread your yarn though the two holes in your dowel, tying a knot in each end to secure it in place.

Now all that is left to do is find the perfect place to show off your new wall hanging!
